Phoebe’s Moon Calendar App

Currently our Moon Phase App For Android and iOS is not available anymore.  We might bring it back one day but as of right now it is discontinued.  We leave this page as a reference and we recommend getting Hellenismos: Practicing Greek Polytheism Today if you want to learn more.

In the ancient times when people believed in the Olympian gods, people used to follow a moon calendar that had 12 or 13 months depending on the year. The months had different names than modern calendars and were 29 or 30 days, starting the day after the new moon.

Much like today you have saints celebrating on various days throughout the year, in ancient times you had various gods being honored on various days in various ways. And that’s the point of Phoebe’s Moon Calendar app.

Please read the ABOUT US in the app first when you get it. Phoebe was the Titan goddess of the moon, grandmother of the Olympian goddess of the moon, Artemis (also nicknamed Phoebe after her grandmother).

Named after the Phoebe the moon goddess, the moon calendar app will show you exactly what day it would be and who was being honored if you were following the ancient Hellenic moon calendar that was used in Athens (because it was the most used).

For the days that there is no god being honored, we have little daily surprises to motivate you every day. Because this app has a global audience and the moon rotations are different depending on where you are, the app follows the moon rotations around Mount Olympus, the home of the Gods. That way 1 schedule can be followed from all over the world (Olympus Standard Time:).

We are very excited to bring you this Hellenic calendar app because it will give you something to think about every single day of the year. Each day can easily bring all kinds of inspirations and ideas as you see the roots of many things that are part of society today.
